Dr. Megan Herscher serves as Associate Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Coordinator of the Clinical Mental Health Program and at Carson-Newman University. She recently transitioned from the position of President of the Tennessee Licensed Professional Counselor’s Association to Past President in June of 2022. Dr. Herscher holds the license of LPC-MHSP (Licensed Professional Counseling with a Mental Health Services Provider designation) in the state of Tennessee, and LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in Washington DC and is a designated supervisor with the state of Tennessee. Additionally, she is credentialed by the NBCC as a Nationally Certified Counselor as well as an ACS (Approved Clinical Supervisor).
Dr. Herscher received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2013, her previous roles in professional organizations include; President at Chi Sigma Iota, President of the Smoky Mountain Counseling Association and President of the Tennessee Clinical Mental Health Association as well as a leadership role in Tennessee Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (TACES). Dr. Herscher was the recipient of the Smoky Mountain Counseling Association Counselor Educator of the Year in 2013, and Tennessee Counselor Educator of the Year Award in 2016 and was recognized for her role of President of TLPCA in 2022. She held the role of Primary Faculty Advisor for the Chi Sigma Iota (Chi Nu Upsilon Chapter of Carson-Newman University) for 8 years and she has an active research agenda with a focus on career counseling, Appalachian studies and impacts of COVID on Mental Health Counselors. Her book Working with Infertility and Disenfranchised Grief: A Practical Guide for Helping Professionals will be completed November of 2022 and published by Routledge Publishing. She resides in Knoxville with her husband, Adam, and children Cassidy (age 11), twins, Charlie & Ian (age 6), and ill-tempered Shih Tzu (Ragu).
